i received my body check up result today. not very surprised to see my cholesterol is a bit bit high. all those fried foods have came back to haunt me. this report came just in time. i just started to watch my weight a few weeks back, and this served as a reminder to continue my regime. i decided i will wanna knock off 5kg by end of sept! i believe i can. :)

Tonight, I see witness my favourite EPL club relegated to Championship. We lost by a damien duff's own goal. To be fair, he is not to be blamed for that wicked deflection. I felt the team lost its shape during the 2nd half. Putting 3 strikers in e box without proper delivery wont get us goals. Nicky Butt managed to test my patience today yet again, the numerous "through" balls he attempted was seriously driving me insane.

While I was taking my shower, tears started to roll down my cheeks. I was awaken by the ruthless truth that we are probably Championship material. Proud moments of being a Geordie fan flashed by my mind. Of course, I do know we aint title winning material. But every season, I keep telling all my pals who supported the Top 4 that we will be challenging them for the title. I like supporting the Magpies. I like the fact that we managed to pull off good results against top clubs and shabbles against bottom clubs. This roller coaster feeling kept me a Loony Toon. Alright, i am feeling abit emotional right now. I would like to churn my bitterness into some positivity.

Here's my ALL TIME FAV Line Up.

Needless to say. My favourite guardian is Shay Given. Kudos to the years he dedicated to the Magpies. I wish him all the best in Man City. Hope Man City will fulfil his European ambition.

Robert Lee would be my pick for holding midfielder. His composure in the centre was gave the team the freedom to attack.

Peter Beardsley would definitely make in to most team starting 11. His craft was indeed an important part of the Keegan era.

For the left side, it would be a toss up between Laurent Robert and David Ginola. Ginola won it for me being someone easier to manage and his form was definitely more consistent than Robert.

Noberto Solano, Nobby was my choice for the right midfielder. His link up play with Big Al was so entertaining to watch.

Craig Bellamy, the big man small man combination with Big Al was awww so perfect.

Alan Shearer, what else can i say about him? He is the GREATEST GEORDIE ever.

If you think I left out my defenders. I didnt. There is no defence in Newcastle.

Watched the re-run of Titanic on cable earlier on. Somehow this movie still managed to touch me. I was wondering if it was bcos of the music, those witty verse they used or simply bcos who I watched it with the previous time. :) Probably a combination of all. The verse I love most of the one when Rose went back to rescue Jack after he was being handcuffed at the bottom of the deck for "stealing" the jewel.

I had a great deal of fun on Friday at the expense of my RBS buddies. We headed down to China One after dinner and I had a good time there. Since a long long long while since I got that high at a club. Dont think we drank that much thou. It was the potent red wine which sent me to da da land. I started off with a glass of Macallan. I was enjoying my whiskey till they hurried me. :( Next up, I had to face my nemesis the red wine. OMG we drank red wine as if it was water. Bottoms up in a go. Woohoo.. Next was a Hoegarden and Erdinger. Beerss.. eee.. okie it is not that i dislike wines and beers. but they always get me drunk. :( Anyway we didnt stop there. I had a weird tasting drink which one of my buds ordered. It either tasted sweet , sour and bitter, or i was too drunk to differentiate the taste. Lost 5 - 10 3 in a row and had to ta that in a go. zzzz.. The drinking didnt stop here too, I had 2 tequila shots in a go and headed to the dancefloor to disgrace myself. To make matters worse, my bud came along with another shot. cant taste it, down it. Headed to e toilet and drank lotsa water. Continued to disgrace myself on the dancefloor for a little while longer till the liquor effect totally subsided. When I regained total conscious of what was going on. I felt disgusted. My dancing sucks. So sorry for whoever was at China One on friday. I probably ruined your night there. :( Forgive me yeah? muahahha..

Anyway, the real purpose of this entry is for my RBS buddies. Although my stint there was pretty short, I really glad to known you guys. So in no particular order. Weiying AKA Zhao's gf Sijia AKA SEEEEEEEEEtoh and Keith AKA YOU R E MAN. Love you all!

Oh yah. Since I am celebrating the joy of friendship, I would like to mention my other frd, Maralyn who is willing to take me in if I go to HK even thou I SNORE!!! :p

Hainanese Chicken Rice

Ingredients

For the rice
3 cups long grain rice 2 tablespoons chicken fat, with skin (I know..but it makes the rice taste really good) 2 tablespoons water 2-3 cm ginger, grated 3-4 garlic cloves, grated 1-2 teaspoon salt (to taste) 3 1/2 cups chicken stock, according to rice package instructions (or more, reserved from chicken that you will boil) 2 screwpine leaves (optional..it will make the rice more fragrant)
Hainanese chicken

1 whole chicken water, enough for boiling chicken 1 piece thumb sized ginger, smashed 4-5 garlic cloves, peeled and smashed slightly 1 teaspoon salt

Chilli garlic sauce for dipping 10 fresh red chilies 2 cm piece ginger 4 garlic cloves 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon lime juice 2 tablespoons chicken stock (from the boiled chicken. This stock is essential for the chilli sauce)

Ginger sauce for dipping 75 g ginger 6 garlic cloves 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon lime juice 2 tablespoons chicken stock (again stock from the boiled chicken)

Sauce for chicken
1 tablespoon garlic oil 1 teaspoon sesame oil 5 tablespoons light soya sauce 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar (to taste) 3 tablespoons chicken broth (from boiled chicken) Garnishing fresh coriander leaves sliced spring onion sliced cucumber

Directions
1.First of all wash the rice then place it on to a tea towel or colander to dry. Then, prepare the chicken.Bring enough water to boil in a large pot.Once boil, add in the salt, ginger,garlic and chicken. Lower the heat and cook chicken for about 20 - 25 minutes, uncovered. It is very important to boil the chicken very slowly over low flame.Turn of flame and cover the pot. Allow the chicken to steep inside for another 20-25 minutes. Remove chicken and immerse it into a basin of cold water for 5-6 minutes.Take chicken out and drain in a colander to drip dry before cutting it into serving pieces.

2While the chicken is drip drying, prepare the rice.Heat up wok and add in the chicken fat and water.Bring to a low simmering boil until oil is released from the fat. Add in the ginger and garlic and fry well (without burning the garlic) Remove and discard the chicken fat and skin. Add in the rice that has been dried and salt and stir fry briskly about 1 - 2 minutes.Transfer rice into an electric rice cooker or pot. Add in the chicken broth from the boiled chicken together with the screwpine leaves if using.If cooking in a pot, cook over low flame stirring occasionally so as not to let the bottom of the rice burn.Boil until rice is cook.

3While the rice is cooking, you can prepare the chilli garlic sauce. Just add all ingredients into a blender or food processor, and give it a good whizz, until ingredients are well blended. Adjust the seasoning with more salt or sugar to taste.The chili garlic sauce can be kept in the refrigerator for about 2-3 days only.

4To prepare the ginger sauce is the same.give the ingredients a good whiz in the blender.What gives the extra oomph for the sauces is the stock from the chicken broth -- so, do not omit this ingredient.

5Lastly combine all the ingredients for the chicken sauce and pour it all over the cut up chicken. You can add more soya sauce and chicken broth to the chicken if you prefer. Just adjust the taste of the sauce with soya sauce and chicken broth.If you do not have garlic oil,you can fry a few cloves of garlic in oil for few minutes then take out oil and garlic pour it into a jar, and let the garlic steep inside the oil.

6Finally, garnish the chicken with the coriander leaves, spring onions and cucumbers.

7Enjoy meal with the rice and dipping sauces!

Singapore have been drawn into Group 4 together with Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Lebanon in the third round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian Zone qualifying tournament after the draw in Durban, South Africa last night.

Said National Team coach Radojko Avramovic: “There are no easy groups at this level and we'll look to surprise the favourites in our group.

All the groups look tough, not only Group 1 (Australia, China, Iraq and Qatar) but also the group featuring Japan, Bahrain, Oman and Thailand.

However, football is not just about the favourites. Saudi and Uzbekistan may be the favourites in our group but if football is only about the favourites, the game will not be as interesting as it is.”

The top two teams from each group will go through to the fourth and final group stage. That will feature two groups of five teams and the top two qualify for the finals.

The two third-placed teams will enter a play-off and the winners will take on the champions of Oceania in another play-off to decide the final place.

FIFA has already set the dates for the third stage qualification matches for February 6, March 26, June 7, June 14, September 6 and September 10.

Oh boi, it is my 25th birthday today. I am feeling rather old now. :< Went MOS on friday nite, i have a great time that nite. But last monday, all 3 went mysteriously missing!!! How sad.. after 5 days of mourning... my dad found 1 in drain outside my house! and the strangest thing happened today. Why Some People Have All The Luck

Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks
they deserve?

A psychologist says he has discovered the answer.

Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some
people are always in the right place at the right time, while others
consistently
experience ill fortune. I placed advertisements in national newspapers
asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me.

Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and
over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives and had
them take part in experiments.

The results reveal that although these people have almost no insight
into the causes of their luck, their thoughts and behavior are
responsible for much of their good and bad fortune. Take the case of
seemingly chance opportunities. Lucky people consistently encounter
such opportunities, whereas unlucky people do not.

I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to
differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both
lucky and unlucky people a newspaper, and asked them to look through it
and tell me how many photographs were inside. I had secretly placed a
large message halfway through the newspaper saying: "Tell the
experimenter you have seen this and win $50."

This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was
more than two inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the
face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people
tended to spot it.

Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this
anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected.

As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on
looking for something else. They go to parties intent on finding their
perfect partner and so miss opportunities to make good friends. They
look through newspapers determined to find certain types of job
advertisements and miss other types of jobs.

Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there
rather than just what they are looking for. My research eventually
revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles.
They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make
lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling
prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude
that transforms bad luck into good.

Towards the end of the work, I wondered whether these principles could
be used to create good luck. I asked a group of volunteers to spend a
month carrying out exercises designed to help them think and behave like
a lucky person.

Dramatic results! These exercises helped them spot chance
opportunities, listen to their intuition, expect to be lucky, and be
more resilient to bad luck.

One month later, the volunteers returned and described what had
happened.
The results were dramatic: 80% of people were now happier, more
satisfied with their lives and, perhaps most important of all, luckier.

The lucky people had become even luckier and the unlucky had become
lucky.

Finally, I had found the elusive "luck factor".

Here are Professor Wiseman's four top tips for becoming lucky:

1) Listen to your gut instincts - they are normally right

2) Be open to new experiences and breaking your normal routine

3) Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well

4) Visualize yourself being lucky before an important meeting or
telephone call.

Have a Lucky day and work for it.

The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems,
but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.

Before the start of this semester, i told myself i wanna score at least 60% for my overall wam. and guess how much i score? 60.1% woohoo.. i guess my mother's constant preaching about not be greedy really kicks into me when it comes to result. :) Anyway for the people who are interested about my convocation ceremony, it will be some time between mid sept to early oct. i am yet to know of the exact details, and is still considering whether i would stay in sydney till my convocation or head back to singapore. sorry, i m a wuss.. i cant make up my mind yet. Lastly, i m really happy that i have finally done it. It would be as easy as it was if wouldnt for all my frds.. so.. yeah .. thank you!

I just gotta back from my physics exam. Messed up. I seriously cant remember what happened during the 3hrs of my exams, i swear it seems like i have lost 3 hrs of my life to my physics paper. I cant rem what e questions were. One thing is for sure is that the questions were the same as the past papers which i diligently memorised! hohoh. arrghhh.. i was confused when to use the left hand rule.. why is it that the examinor doesnt put this kind of things onto the formulae sheet! and is it too much for him to provide us with the question together with the answer before the exam! as i dragged my ass home.. i walked past a group of gals wearing freaking short skirts.. WTF.. it was so freaking cold.. abt 10 degrees and they can wear skirts .. are they okie anot? i knew i had to do smth abt it.. enuff of this vanity.. so i shouted .. " Hey hey .. Do the right thing!" i tried to know some sense into their thick skull but lost them when i said "be a man" .. hack them.. i continue to make my journey home.. and was super happy to receive a msg from jill. she wished me good luck for the exam.. i bet if i received it earlier, i would prolly ace the paper!

This might be my last semester in UNSW, or should I say in Sydney. I do hope I manage to clear all my subjects and dont 'da-bao' any more modules. The current progress of all my subjects are fairly decent, so without any significant misfortune, I should be ok. And as the days go by, my heart feels heavy. The idea of staying in Sydney seems more like a dream now. Nevertheless, I still have SINGAPORE, and I needa go back and send my congratulation to Uncle Chiam. I have to admit I didnt think he will manage to pull another wabbit out of his hat! Well done Chiam!

I had a funny dream on friday. I thought of someone who i haven seen for ages. It kinda tickles my heart when I remember of the good times we shared together. It also make me wonder how did I let this relationship end up this way. I begin to ponder if it was ME. For the 1st time, I think the problem really lies with me. I dont really know what's wrong is it with me, but I just got this special ability to push people away when we are getting close only to desperately grasp hold of their shadows when they turn to leave. Sad huh? bah~

My last entry will be dedicated to my flattened Eugene. I applaud for his latest contribution he has done for the meek Street Gang. For the TWO days, he has cleaned and maintained the state of our place. Well done Eugene Ng, i will give ya a dental bone soonish. I was out of Sydney last weekend. Till now, i doubt my flatmates know where I was hiding. Anyway, it was a good weekend. I feel totally recharged now, cant say the same for my credit card. Update!! My academic progress have been rather smooth! Input isnt as much as last yr, but the output surely looks decent. :) Had one exam this morning, and boy was i stunned that it was an open book exam!! i mugged till 3am last night to find out it was a open book! i should have gone to sleep earlier!! to make this worse, i only manage to fnish 3 out of 4 qns. haiz.. Neway, got another paper tomorrow and i haven even started to study! wee.. and not only that i jus found out the coverage for tomorrow paper. haven attended a single lecture for this course! wish me luck guys!

elo. i bet you guys prolly think i was buried under my heavy study schedules. but fret not. i m still alive and kicking. as can be seen from my above pic, i m still pretty fit. anyway, today was the start of my 2 weeks breaks. i have a prolonged easter holiday due to my fantastic time table. so dun be jealous everybody, for i m e chosen one.

I didnt have any initial plan/s for celebrating my birthday this year. There were lotsa issues that were on going in my life and I hit an ultra low (mood) during the week of my birthday. Actually, beside my 21st birthday, i dont really like the idea of celebrating birthday. It is too much a hassle, I reckon. Anyway, I told a few frds when my birthday was, hoping that they will wish me happy birthday on the day itself. Bcos last year, my mum didnt wish me happy birthday!! What a mum eh? hahaha .. Nah, i m kool. Anyway my friends insisted that i have at least a gathering, and i gladly obliged. We went down to chinatown on Sat for Yum Cha and met up wif Billy and Sharon for dinner at Tony Romas(Yup! we went there again!) But the bottom line is: Do we let these minority group of people affect how we feel about life and spoil our day, or do we prefer to continue letting the majority provide us with the happiness we deserve whilst enjoying all the good we have. Your choice. Do we stop at a junction behind a stalled car where the lights are green and wait till someone comes along to repair the fixed vehicle, or do we just drive past it, taking a quick look and moving on with your journey. How would you like to have your life stalled like that every other day by someone who's that inconsiderate, thoughtless or unreasonable. Would it be worth it? Would you feel happier having your life stopped for that period of time, while the rest of the world move on?

a virgin post on a great friend's blog? a guest speaker? well, whatever you call it... i was perhaps expecting a "red-carpet" welcome onto da clown's blog. but well, i guess with 9 years of friendship, one shouldn't be so "niao" right? its funny how i dun have the discipline these days to blog on my own site, but the moment ive been invited here, i decided to just write a few words. and i promise - just a few words!

Lyson, da clown, is often someone u can rely on when you need help... someone who will go all out to help you as long as it is within his capabilities... someone who is generous with friends and eats to his heart's content at all times. though impatient at times, late almost all the time, sleeps when the sun rises, and wakes up when the owl appears... he's still one of the best friends anyone can have.

its sad to see him go back to Sydney in a week's time cos it means it'll be another half a year at least before he's back again - depending on whether he chooses to apply for PR in aussie land. but in any case, i do wish him success in this coming semester where he'll hopefully pass all his modules with flying colours and finally get his hands on his degree cert which he, and i suppose everyone else, has been working on aiming for since the age of 7. havnt been thru graduation myself, but such events in life should never be taken for granted i suppose. to be blessed with a brain gd enough to compete with the best, to be blessed with a family being able to support your studies overseas, to be blessed with great friends along the way to give you both moral and emotional support... all these shouldn't be overlooked.

to everyone: make gd use of your life. do not take things for granted and most importantly, treasure what you have and especially all the family and friends around you.
Remember, you are who you believe you are!

We called ourselves The Midnight 拜年 Squad! We roamed the Singapore streets in the night in search for places to "拜年".My 1st recuritment as squad leader was Teo Kaixiang, during our school days, KX has alwayz been around when I needed him and this time re affirm his loyalty to me as a son. hohoho .. he appeared in 10 mins after receiving my call.. and all dressed in his marist uniform too... woohoo! what a friend!

Our 1st visit was to one of our best loved classmate, Clement Cheng. Sadly upon hearing that we are heading to his house to "拜年", he immediately left 3 chairs outside his door and refused our entry to his house. Haiz.

Luckily, for our second visit, we were better received. Xue Bingjun, the one in pink, was such a great host that by comparison to the treatment received from Mr Clement, we were like Kings when we were at the Xue's.

Our last stop was at Cineleisure, where we met up wif Wilson Liu, retired ah beng turned full time gambler. Oh if anyone wanna play lan gaming at 4am in the morning, Cineleisure is the place to go. Though charged at $3.50 an hour, the comps there are relatively good. Anyway that is all from our squad. Be prepare next year for The Midnight 拜年 Squad! You never know when we will be at your door!
